VA security thought the appropriate response to this was to physically assault him. While attacking Monatano, a VA hospital officer stomped on his carotid artery, causing the stroke that killed him. As a result, Norma Montano sued the United States of America in Federal Court, for the death of her husband of 44 years, Jonathan Montano.
